Been a while…

Some people have been compaining that I have not updated this in a while. Oh well. Trouble is with the faliure of my previous hosting company, and moving stuff over (which involved migrating from one language to annother) Things have been a little busy on the web front, i.e. what time i have been able to spend on it as I have the small matter of my final year project

This doesnt mean i have not had anyhting to talk about. Friends, Summers, Futures, Funding of Union Societies, are all topics that spring instanly to mind. but really, not now.

Incase you are wondering what I am meant to be doing, I am working on my Final Year Project, putting together some code, to make the system work. Trouble is the hardware is not what was expected. oops. and oh well.

It All Went a Little Wrong…

I was going to move the site about a bit more. Nothing noticable was the plan, just make it work on php rather than asp.net.

But I suffered some problems so its gone a bit ropey all of a sudden. For this I am sorry, I hope to get things back on track soon, though this does mean lots of data entry at the moment as i have changed the data structure behind the site. That said, it will from now be more manageable!

Meanwhile, long meetings, and a nagging project. I really should go back to Elec Eng…

Moving Around

I am only making more problems for my self now… But I have decided to change the way things are hosted. This means I will have to transfer all the data on this site to different data bases. But such is life. A little copy and paste now and again.

The main change will be a move to using php. Its going quite well so far. It seems okay so far as I am implementing the functionality. with the inbuilt remote admin for databases, I am having no problems if i dont add in the nice back end. This doesn’t mean I wont, as it is actually quiet nice to administer the site down that route.

I am not going to say where the test system is at the moment. I dont want to get to the poitn where its all half cocked. One day it will be this site, the next it should look the same, just be slightly different…

Linux based evangelism might well follow shortly…

A quick round up

The more observant may have noticed tht this site has suffered some odd goings on in the last couple of days. All of a sudden the server was timing out on getting the XML and RSS feeds that add a few bits of information to the site. As a result it all went very wrong. I raised a support ticket with my hosts, and though they have not said they found out what happened, its all working again. Which is nice.

As my hosts 49pence do not do IMAP mail, I have found some one else who does Purple Cloud Hosting I will have to sort that out in the next few days, but it does mean I am thinking about a new domain name

I need to look at where this site is developing. Its on the verge of getting lost again. I also need to sort out a few other bits about how the site and stuff works. I might even learn php.One never does know…

Oh, and currently this page does not validate, as I put an & rather than & in my diary. so until the Health and Safety meeting is past it just not going to be happy.
