More Photos

My second set of Freshers Week 2004 photos are now online…

Delay was caused by running out of disk space. I really need to sort out the way my galleries are managed!

Oooh! Responsibility

I seem to have returned to my old haunts of being a “meeting action behatch”. I presented my findings of 3 and a half months work (or rather a little less, more like 3 once you extract all my time off from the 4 months I have been on this project) and then there was a discussion.

"So how do we take this forward?" was asked by someone somewhat more senior than me. And so it came to pass that a list was drawn up. Henry suggests I draw up a list for distribution. And low, it comes to pass my name is against every single action point. Although sometimes there is someone else too….

Well, I guess it is my project still. Which is not a bad thing, as I do like it.

Searching High and Low

I visited my local cycle shop last night after work. As usual I was looking for a Raleigh Stratos. Amazingly they had one, but apparently it will be too big… so they are trying to get hold of a smaller one. Hmmm. I dont think Raleigh have any left (not really sure what is going on wiht these bikes, it seems as though they never had many to start with) so it might turn into a case of phoning every dealer….

Its crazy, but it seems that to get a touring bike which is somewhere between a racing bike, and a comutors bike, one is expected to spend ?700 or so. hmmm. Stratos is only ?400 but i am kind of amazed that adding drop handle bars seems to put a price up so much.

From the confort of their own home

As one looks around the internet, you occasionally happen accross the soprts of things people do at home. Often I come accross people doing "basic" i.e. low tech manufacture at home, but with pretty good results. The instructions for casting aluminium parts in a kitchen were impressive… and simple!

So todays find that really needs to be mentioned is a 3D scanner. WOW.

I think I have been here before. Almost.

My fourmonth project has pretty much drawn to a close. Which is nice, its just a matter of seeing what others think of the work I have done, and seeing if there is a future for it. If so then I could be the company expert, for a little while at least.

So now I am learning about "Drives" some of this does Hark back to that 2nd Year lab on Inuction machines. Occasioanlly something I read does remind me of something I kind of learnt before.

Almost makes a mockery of my degree doesnt it. But then I never truely thought the idea was to learn everything I needed to get me through therest of my life. My memory certainly doesn’t work like that. I thought the aim was to get a grounding in various areas, I can always look things up if i need them….
