Milk Drink

Milk is good for you

Having bought milk at lunch, I decided to use it up in the best way I could. Hot Chocolate… made with lots of milk, and then a little boiling water to warm it. Nice.

Spare Beds

How to aquire more furniture

The ongoing Ed-Aquires-Furniture-That-Looks-Familier story

Thanks to my parents continuing urge to redecorate their house, I saw them both on saturday and on sunday. The plan had been for me to go to theirs on sunday, help dismantle the railway set, and then aquire some cupboards from them. They phoned me on saturday to ask if we could do it that day insted. It turned out they just meant deliver the cupboards, as the seats were out of Mum’s espace, yadda yadda.

So I have some new cupboards. Which is good, as it will be better storage for those things that are badly packed into plastic crates….

Sunday I went to my parents, and dismantled the train set. and then broke up the board it was mounted on (effort required to cut into two, an likely hood of it being fixed togetehr again vs. ease of removing it in pieces. I got out my hammer…)

As the bits are flying, Mum/Dad decides that I might was well have the bed that will be surplus to requirments (If i want it. Furniture. FREE Furniture) So the seats come back out of the espace….. now negating the replanning of my weekend the previous day.

On the plus side, I now have a 2nd bedroom that looks more like a bedroom. Yes, it even has a (single) bed in it. All I need to nab now are the extra duvet and pillows which somehow failed to get to my flat on Sunday.

It does raise some organisational questions though. Such as would i be better off putting my "Office" against the wall at the entrance to the room, and the "Bedroom" towards the window. This kind of makes sense, as then i do not have to get past the bed all the time. Of course everything will probably change in 9-12months time when I get a new bed, and move the futon into the 2nd room (as it can be a sofa most of the time, and thus will take up less space….

Off Coms

Eddie will be out of the office

In case anyone does want to get hold of me, I will be off the net for about a week, commencing this wednesday.

I will still have my mobile phone. And the reception on North York Moors is actually rather good I think.

In case you are wondering, its time to use up remaining holiday entitlement prior to the end of march. And my preffered method for doing this is to go and stay in York. Not sure what I will be doing, but I will not be working… :-)

Powergen N

Rattled?

Just had annother drone from Powergen on the phone. He wanted to discuss my transfer of my account. But when he tried to check my address, he gave me the wrong one. OOps….

They will just have to try again later, and if they catch me at home, i might have all the details for them….

The Record

Just to Say…

Just a short note, to you on this lovelly Wednesday morning, that I actually feel pretty good. Lets hope this continues!

I got into Peterborough at 0224 or there abouts last night, and decided to splash out and get a taxi home. And here is the rub, the taxi cost me over £8 whilst the train/travelcard only cost me £13.20 guess I need to take trainers with me next time so I am more comfortable walking home….

I am really going to miss my rail card when it eventually expires. But i think i can renew just prior to my 26th birthday to get cover for just that little longer

Great Escape

Eat Dirt!

My getting involved with local scouting, as well as giving me something to do every Monday night, is also occasionally appearing on other days. For example, Saturday night found me with the other West Town leaders running a base in a patch of wood in Ferry Meadows.

Our base was themed as "The Great Escape" and involved a trolly, some track and a tunnel.

The truck was about 4 ft long, and nearly 3ft wide, on 4 casters. The track was formed from 2×1 with one strip forming the running surface, and then a piece screwed on each side to stop the truck from goign off. The individual track sections (oh, lets all them rails) were screwed to cross pieces (erm, sleepers?) to hold them the right distanmce apart for the casters. The track sections were added together, to give us a run somewhere in the region of 30 plus feet.

As if that didnt look good enough, we then had a line of stakes down each side of the track, and covered this over with tarps, and other sheeting.

The truck was given assistance down the run (even though it was down hill) with one length of rope, whilst annother was used to stop the truck prior to it leaving the end of the track. As the truck stopping tended to just result in the passenger continuing the jopurney without it, a pile of wood chippings formed a good landing zone.

Operation went along the lines of one by one, getting them to lie on the truck, making sure feet didn’t hang over the back (else they would get caught when the truck stopped) and callign the the pullers to go. I would then witness rapidly diminishing amounts of rope at my end, and then it would go tight, and immediatly i could pull the truck back up, the previous passenger would now be picking them selves up….

Everyone seemed to enjoy it though. And atleast we didnt get them wet!

Playing Catchup

I am playing catchup in a number of ways at the moment. In one case, on sleep, although I think I have now caught up (sufficiently anyway) and because generally for me being short of sleep is a good thing (assuming its because i have not had time to sleep, and not because I have not been sleeping. In this case it is the former)

Someone pointed out to me that a number of my photos on my website do not seem to work. I knew that a few galleries were missing, but discovered last night that loads of them were not appearing. I really need to deal with the file size issues that I am having, and then return them all to view. This wil unfortunatly take me a while, but I had been waiting for broadband, and now I have that it should not take so long….

This raises some roblems for me regarding backing up of image files. I now need to organsise all my photos, and then upload small enough ones to the web that they do not take up excessive space. If people see ones they *really* want a huge copy of then they can email me. Or maybe take them from the server whihc will usually be operating in my flat. I want to avoid just buying all the disk space on Purple Cloud’s server though… cheap as it is, it does seem a little silly….
