It seems many things are bigger/taller/longer than they were previously. this must be the effect of Nelson’s Column turning out to be shorter than was previously thought. You can imagine all the displays in various museums now needing adjusting to aqueeze in another/some more column. 
I guess the column was errected so long ago that the drawings/plans were not precise about the height to be achieved. Or maybe someone was on the fiddle…
