Smelly News?

Doc Crippen has been complaining about some journalism at the BBC. And this has put me onto News Sniffer which is an amazing look at bbc news…

Take the “Watch Your Mouth” for example. Nothing like a bit of moderation is there. Takes me back to my various loose associations with Live! that does… Happy days.

The Quiz

I have not taken the quiz in a while. And was maybe a little disturbed by what it output for me. Or am I all that surprised?

My Quiz results

LIBERTARIANS support maximum liberty in both personal and

economic matters. They advocate a much smaller government; one

that is limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence.

Libertarians tend to embrace individual responsibility, oppose

government bureaucracy and taxes, promote private charity, tolerate

diverse lifestyles, support the free market, and defend civil liberties.

Ok, maybe its not that far off.

Junking Addresses

Seeing as I catch all on my domain, i possibly get more than my fair share of Junk. So, the time has come to do somethign about it. There are a few addresses that seem to get a HUGE amount of spam. and nothing else. Amazingly, they are also miss spellings….

So let it be known, aster@eddie-brown.co.uk is now dead. well, its not, as i have actually set it up as an email address, just it will tip into a black hole.

Posing Git

Now, I have a confession to make. At least I can take some comfort in the fact that it is not such a heinous crime as that that has been perpetrated by some people.

Yes. I have a blue-tooth headset. I am sorry. I suddenly realised what I had become as I was driving down the A1 yesterday afternoon, amongst all the others with their headset on and being displayed to all those over taking them….

Still, it is cheaper than getting a proper car kit. And much better than trying to use the phone on Loudspeaker mode in the car. I just need to make sure i remember to take it off….

It does have one big bonus though. It also links to my PC. which is better than buying a wired headset. and means I will be able to listen to my music at work wirelessly. I wonder what the range is. Maybe I should remind myself of the title of this post!

Drop Da PC

Hmmm, it seems dropping one of my PCs was not such a good thing to do. One of the drives has been making funny noises for a while now, but now it seems that the other disk drive is kapput. Rats. Something to try salvaging some time in the future….

Christmas Lists (part 1)

Hmmm, so the Kelly Kettle caught my eye. Looks like a really useful bit of kit that does… just the thing for quickly boiling some water when we are camping. Who knows, maybe I can justify buying one of these….

Seeing Stars

Or at elast we would have seen some starts near Hudersfield if it had been a clear night. Unfortunatly it was also really windy, so they wouldnt open the roof up. which was a shame for me, cos that was going to be the highlight of my night at Huddersfield Observatory….

Un PC?

A few weeks ago, I caused a little discussion in my office when I said that I could see how a small business employer may not want to employ women due to the risk of them going on maternity leave.

Feel the steam rising inside you? before you explode think about what I am saying. Think about manageing risk. Think about what an employer of a small business is trying to achieve when they take on a member of staff.

And then today I read an article on the Devil’s Kitchen whihc mentions a UKIP member’s comments. Other previous posts on the devils kitchen should be equally inflamitory.

Ah, the joy of debate, eh? Of course discrimination is wrong. But life is about balances. The difficult bit is to look behind the reasons for a statement. And you are probably misunderstanding what I mean right now….

Asda Pringles bargain

Asda Living @ Cortonwood were last night (at least) flogging special Halloween Pringle’s at 99p each, or buy 2 for 74p. So, if you wanted one, the best thing would be to buy 2 and then just dump the unwanted one. In some countries this would be illegal. I kinda think it is immoral, promoting wastage, but presumably they are judged on how much goods they throw away unsold. Selling it for a greatly reduced price might be better on paper than throwing it away. But i would guess someone somewhere is playing the system for their bonus.
