For some reason, I had a letter from the Student Loan Company telling me they had made it easier to repay my loan. Then a further letter a few days letter with the other half of my login details and a leaflet on security online.
For a laugh, I entered the details i was given on their site, and after accepting some terms and conditions i was granted entry, only to discover
The service you wish to access is unavailable. Please try again at a later date.
Now, currently i am not sure why I would want to pay back my loan. I cannot easily make more than 2% in a savings account, but i am sure i would be better off paying more towards my mortgage in the long term than cutting my remaining student debt.
Speaking of which, it will still be the second half of 2015 before i finish paying off my student loan currently.
I wonder if the government is just trying to get any cash in that it can…..

I often think of things I should do as I am driving along. These thoughts pop into my head for a bit – and so bug me – and then are forgotten – and so cause an issue when i eventually remember what i should have done when i got back to the office.
Obviously, I cannot make notes in a “Watch Leader Note Book” as I am driving along. So what can i do? Well, my mobile phone has a voice recorder function, so as I am driving along with my bluetooth headset I can record notes as I go.
I then use the file browser functionality of PC sync to copy the .amr files to my “@INBOX” directory and then can later use Mobile Media Converter to convert to mp3 for playing via winamp. (just because i find it easier that way)
When i write it down, it seems a lot of bother – but when i was doing it yesterday it was a good feeling knowing that these were things I now had not forgotten.

I wonder if a Nokia 6300i with wi-fi ability will let me use hot spots in say McDonalds, or on National Express trains for a bit of light browsing…. Anyone know?

It is now noted that there are two Chatsworth Avenues on the flyde coast. One in Blackpool, and the other in Fleetwood. Luckily it is only 12 minutes from the one to the other.

Apparently GHD Hair Straighteners are *the* thing for all girls with curly hair (I am not sure what the in-thing for all the straight haired girls to curl their hair is… but i digress…)
So it happens that I know a guy who is rather good with electronic hardware. The sort of chap who fixes his fridge and washing machine, builds his own bike lights, etc….
In May 2007, he posted about repairing GHD Straighteners, and one thing led to another, and now he has put all his knowledge on line. GHD-Repair.co.uk of course.
Vicki knows the above – and appears home oen evening with some GHD’s belonging to a friend. So browsing the website, no light, on a GHD3 indicates a dodgy connection to a heater element, ah, yes as it comes apart whilst trying to undo the terminals to check the resistance across the elements.
One new element later, and they work. All I need to do is get a new plug as there is no way I am letting someone use the flex in the state it is in at the plug strain relief currently….
And for those who are not so inclined to play with something that one is going to plug into the mains, there is a GHD repair service instead.

I was looking for the news quiz yesterday on listen again, and I spotted a link to the best start up music in the world…. ever!
I am almost tempted to make my latop play it every time it starts up, then again, maybe i shouldn’t!
Yes, a page of information about the UK Theme also exists.
Now, If i had that for the start, then we would have to play Sailing By[1] as windows shuts down…

Anyone got suggestions of a Windows or web app (even one i can run on my own webspace) that would help in tracking what I have been doing with my time during the day?
partially just to keep track of what I am doing, partly to assist in filling in time sheets…
