Making Choices

A post by Mark Forster on using his AutoFocus system to make menu choices is interesting to me. Basically because…

  1. He came up with Autofocus, and now thinks it can be used for picking what to eat.
  2. I tend to pick my meals this way, and toy with doing something like autofocus to guide my work…

(although currently I am tending towards GTD to manage most of the things in my life, and then use closed ToDo lists and much of what i think of as the “softer” methods of Mark’s books to manage incoming bits and pieces to do.)

Wheels Two

My plan to give stats for each trip out on my bike (which is in part to encourage me to do more) hit a snag yesterday when the transmitter on my front fork, which tells my cycle computer when the wheel goes round, came off. It was recovered, but not reattached just yet….

So I know I did the same route as last time, but no idea how long it took me.

Nice countryside though – when i am not navigating between potholes on the road that is.

First Circuit

Until last weekend, when i just rode my bike up and down a few roads on the estate, I don;t think I had ridden my bike for over a year.

Friday evening, I went out on a very short propper ride.

Average Speed: 13.8mph
Distance: 3.41 miles
Time: 14:47.8

Like I said, only a short one. But a start.

This is nonsense. I know this because since last October I am not insured with them…

Seems like a pretty abusive marketing tactic to me. actually my insurance runs out in 60 days. I suppose today they could give me a quote…. but I think i might ignore them on principle now.

This email and any files sent with it are intended only for the named recipient. If you are not the named recipient please telephone/email the sender immediately. You should not disclose the content or take/retain/distribute any copies.

Perspective

Obviously, I should not watch the news – its only going to be depressing. But I wonder how much truth there is in the following quote for a story on El Reg

Of course flu is nothing to be, umm, sneezed at. It kills about 1,500 people in the UK every winter – but of course that is dull old people flu, not this headline-friendly new flu.

Meanwhile the lower bound could be only twice as bad mortality for “swine flu” as for common or garden flu

And the NHS website is quite good at giving a good science background as to why the science is not generating real answers just yet

Oh, and I think the same people who comment on BBC’s Have your say, are now commenting on the NHS website too. Is it me or is it bizzare that what I thought would be a public information website with *facts* somehow is a place for public opinion instead.

MOT

Polo passed its MOT, with only three advisories, and ones that I think i have seen every year at that!

Happy days.
